Voter numbers increasing

As the countdown to the end of the referendum continues, voters are starting to turn up in larger numbers to submit their ballots.

Reports in County Clare indicate that 23% of the voters have turned out.

However, it is believed that a large proportion of young voters have not yet been to polling stations in the county.

It is thought that close to a quarter of the population have now been to polling stations across the country.

With just over three hours left to vote, however, returning officers say that numbers are still low.
