Sinn Fein president, Gerry Adams, said this afternoon that many republicans believed the war is over - but for other people it was not.

He was commenting on remarks made by veteran IRA man, Martin Meehan, last night that he believed the IRA's war had ended.

"Those who feel like that will say so. If I lived in the Short Strand I wouldn't think the war is over," said Mr Adams.

"If I lived in the Short Strand and seen the bomb attacks even last night or over the weekend I would think there was something wrong that there is a whole focus on the IRA and no attention being paid to unionist paramilitary actions," he added.
