Beaumont bug cases rise to 70

Beaumont hospital have announced that it has had another 15 new suspected cases of the Winter vomiting bug over the last 24 hours.

Now a total of 70 patients are displaying symptoms consistent with the bug.

The virus has infected a total of 17 out of the 19 wards in the hospital.

Two extra wards have been infected over the last 24 hours.

Visits are continuing to be restricted and the public are being urged to contact their local GPs rather than entering the hospitals Accident and Emergency section.

Elective admissions and surgical procedures have also being cancelled while the bug is still spreading.
