Police in the North are investigating what they believe was an arson attack on a house in Co Down last night.

Police in the North are investigating what they believe was an arson attack on a house in Co Down last night.

The blaze started at around midnight at the house at Kinnegar Rocks, Donaghadee.

The fire damaged kitchen furniture and smoke damage was caused to the kitchen and a conservatory.

A woman, her daughter and two year-old granddaughter managed to escape the blaze after they were alerted by the smoke alarm.

The young child was treated in hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
