Man arrested after Dublin stabbing

One man has been arrested and is being detained at Kilmainham garda station following a stabbing last night.

The stabbing took place in an apartment in James Court, Echlin Street at 11pm.

The arrested man is being held under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act and can be held for up to 12 hours.

The injured man was stabbed in the chest and is being treated in St James Hospital where his condition is described as stable.

The scene is preserved for Garda technical examination.
