Cowen: 'No' vote will plunge EU into crisis

Minister for Foreign Affairs Brian Cowen today said crisis will confront the European Union if Ireland repeats a referendum rejection of the Nice Treaty to expand the community in a nationwide vote next week.

Foreign minister Brian Cowen said there had been no discussion or consideration among EU member states about any alternative to the treaty.
