The Irish Anti-War Movement (IAWM) has said the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is afraid to hold a Dail debate on the use of Shannon Airport by the US military because he knows he has sold out Irish neutrality.

The Irish Anti-War Movement has said the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is afraid to hold a Dail debate on the use of Shannon Airport by the US military because he knows he has sold out Irish neutrality.

Speaking at a press conference today, John Gormley, the chairman of the Green Party and a member of the IAWM, said: “It is completely undemocratic to allow our airports to be used by American forces for an attack on innocent Iraqi women and children without first debating it in the Dail.
