FG TD gives testimony in Colombia three trial

Fine Gael TD Jim O’Keefe has given a sworn testimony to lawyers representing the three Irishmen facing trial in Colombia for allegedly training anti-Government rebels.

Mr O’Keefe has given lawyers for the three men evidence which contradicts that of Colombian prosecutors.

His testimony says he met one of the men, Niall Connolly, in Cuba at a time when Colombian police have accused him of being with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

The testimony will support evidence due to be given at the trial by a senior Irish diplomat who said she also met Mr Connolly in Cuba at the same time.
