IBEC urges Govt to learn from past mistakes
The employer’s group IBEC has urged the Government to learn from past mistakes when dealing with the current deterioration in the State’s finances.
Aebhric McGibney, a spokesman for the group, said rampant spending and stagnant revenue have severely damaged the Government’s financial position.
“We made a mistake 20 years ago that we cut back on capital spending and we kept up with current spending,” he said.
“That means that we didn’t invest in the roads, we didn’t invest in the infrastructure. We shouldn’t make that mistake again.”
