Nurses in Dublin begin work to rule

Nurses in a Dublin hospital are to begin a work to rule later today.

Theatre nurses at the James Connolly Memorial hospital say the dispute centres around on-call and shift rate premiums.

The Irish Nurses' Organisation say that they have tried to work with management in negotiations since March of this year.

INO industrial relations officer Mary Fogarty insists that nurses, from today, will not be performing supplementary duties.

The work to rule action will result in nurses pulling out of all actions that are not strictly related to nursing, such as porter duties.

However, nurses will still work when emergencies arise.
