Vomiting bug spreads to second hospital

It is thought that Beaumont hospital now has more than 100 cases of the winter vomiting bug.

Twenty-four cases have been confirmed but 101 staff and patients are believed to have contracted the highly contagious bug.

A spokesperson for the Dublin hospital has confirmed that it is going to be some time yet before activities at the hospital get back to normal.

Meanwhile, Waterford Regional hospital has now confirmed an outbreak of the bug as well.

Seven patients along with two members of staff have picked up the virus.
