President Mary McAleese has told the Irish community in Thailand that Ireland is keen to build closer ties with the countries of south-east Asia.

Speaking at a reception in Bangkok, Mrs McAleese said the Irish in Thailand can help to form these ties by making connections and by building networks and friendships.
