Gardai investigate Dublin abduction

Gardai in Artane in north Co Dublin have launched an investigation following an armed abduction overnight.

The driver of a Mitsubishi Pajero was at a filling station on the Kilmore road when he was approached by an armed man just before 1am this morning.

It is thought the assailant was carrying a handgun. He forced the man into the rear of his vehicle, and collected an accomplice before driving to the Palmerstown area of Dublin.

The driver was then removed from the vehicle, having suffered minor injuries.

The two assailants then made off with the jeep.
