Man drowns trying to save son

A Donegal man holidaying in Spain drowned yesterday while attempting to save his young son.

A Donegal man holidaying in Spain drowned yesterday while attempting to save his young son.

David Irwin, in his late thirties, is understood to have gone to the boy's aid when he got into difficulty while playing in the sea on a water bed.

The boy was safely recovered, but his father was drowned.

Arrangements are now being made for the return of the father of four's body.
