Gardai in Kildare are appealing for witnesses to an accident on the main Dublin to Cork road today.

Gardai in Kildare are appealing for witnesses to an accident on the main Dublin to Cork road today.

The two-car accident involving a BMW and a Vauxhall Cavalier happened about two miles south of Monasterevin.

A female passenger travelling in the cavalier was killed.

She has been named as 19-year-old Shauna Quinn from Derry.

The two male drivers have now been taken to Portlaoise General Hospital.
