The man's body that was found in the grounds of Blackrock Castle in Cork city has been identified.

The man's body that was found in the grounds of Blackrock Castle in Cork city has been identified.

He was 27-year-old Derek O'Connell from 3 Ascension Heights in Knocknaheeny in the city.

Mr O'Connell's body was discovered just before 7pm last night.

The Assistant State pathologist, Marie Cassidy, is due to carry out a post mortem later today.

Gardai are treating the death as suspicious.

Gardai in Anglesea street station are appealing for information to be given at 021-4522000.
