Man recovers after Monaghan shooting

A man is recovering in hospital after being shot in in Killygowen, Co Monaghan earlier today.

The incident happened on Fairview Crescent at 2pm today.

The victim is in Cavan General Hospital with chest and shoulder injuries.

His condition is not life-threatening.

Gardai arrested the gunman at the scene and have also seized a hand gun.

Detectives are now questioning the man in Monaghan garda station.
