CIF calls for 'yes' to Nice

The Construction Industry Federation is taking the unprecedented step of calling for a “yes” vote in the Nice Treaty referendum.

It says European expansion is one of the best ways to overcome current difficulties in the building Industry.

CIF director general, Liam Kelleher, says he feels duty bound to call on the industry to vote in favour of the treaty.

"It was discussed over the summer months by our executive body and we feel that the issue is of such importance for Ireland's future and for the construction industry's future that we should say that we feel it is important that there is a 'yes' vote," he said.
