Parents Council angry with cutbacks in education
The National Parents Council is seeking a meeting with the Minister for Education regarding cutbacks in his department.
Disadvantaged students will be worst affected, as millions is being slashed from the planned initiative to cut the school drop out rate.
Programmes aimed at attracting socio-economically disadvantaged school leavers to third level will also be hit.
Laurie Harney who is spokesperson the Parents Council says students who drop out of school are unemployable and under the constitution they have a right to education.
