NGOs launch campaign for Nice “yes” vote

An alliance of non-governmental organisations and prominent individuals has launched a major campaign for a “yes” vote in the Nice Treaty referendum.

The “Irish Alliance for Europe” believes the campaign should have the voice of the people, not just that of elected politicians.

Professor Brigid Laffan claims a 'no' vote would be bad for Ireland.

“The large states have lost more because they have lost two commissioners. What the Irish and the other small states secured in Nice was equality of treatment."
