SIPTU to seek reduction in WHB members’ expenses

SIPTU is to ask the Western Health Board to reduce the expenses it pays to politicians sitting on the board in an effort to avert planned redundancies.

The WHB has announced plans to lay off 169 staff as part of a round of Government cutbacks, but at a meeting today, SIPTU is expected to argue that the savings needed can be made through reductions in costs.
