Sinn Fein TDs have walked out of the Dail in disgust at not being allowed more time to debate their opposition to the Nice Treaty.

The protest was sparked when Louth Deputy, Arthur Morgan, was ejected from the Chamber over demands for speaking time.

He blames the Government for trying to silence anti-Treaty voices.

“They told us that we would have an opportunity to contribute to the debate and in fact we haven’t," he said.

"The constituency I represent, Louth, voted significantly to reject the Nice Treaty and I think these people should have had the opportunity to have their views heard.”
