Minister recommends fluoride in water
Health Minister Michael Martin agreed today to a slight reduction in the dose of fluoride added to the public water system.
At the launch of a report today, the Minister concluded according to scientific evidence there are no adverse health affects of water fluoridation.
Anti-fluoridation groups have reacted with disappointment to suggestions that the Ministers' review committee has recommended that public water supplies continued to have fluoride.
The opposition is demanding that the Minister address the key questions on the risks of water fluoridation such as why there is an increase in children with fluoride-damaged teeth and the link between fluoride and osteoporosis.
