Govt to publish report on fluoridation of water
The Government is today expected to publish the report from the Fluoridation Forum set up to examine the merits of fluoridating public water supplies.
The forum was established to investigate claims that adding fluoride to water has no beneficial effects on people’s teeth.
Green Party chairman John Gormley said he believes the report will be biased.
"It does seem that they prefer the status quo," he said.
"Also, there are vested interests out there who want to see fluoridation continued."
Mr Gormley added that the report has been completed for at least six months, but accused Health Minister Micheal Martin of publishing it today in a cynical effort to have it buried under coverage of the September 11 anniversary.
