Murder inquiry launched in Waterford

Gardai in Waterford have officially launched a murder inquiry after the body of a badly-beaten Portuguese man was found in the early hours of today.

The man in his thirties was attacked with a weapon last night.

A post mortem is to be carried out on the man's body later.

The non-national was well-known by locals and was considered a new aged traveller in the area.

A passerby discovered his body this morning in a field just off Whiting Bay, in Ardmore, Co Waterford.
