IMPACT and WHB to meet on Tuesday

IMPACT and the Western Health Board are to meet again next Tuesday to discuss the Board’s plans to lay off 169 of its workers.

The two sides began talks in Galway today, but the meeting concluded with no movement in either side’s position.

An IMPACT spokesman said the WHB has agreed to supply further details about the lay-offs at the next meeting on Tuesday.

IMPACT said earlier today that it is totally opposed to the planned job cuts, saying they would lead to the collapse of the health service in the western region.
