Gardaí have arrested 20 people as part of Operation Clean Street, the campaign to crack down on drug dealers in Dublin.

The raids began across Dublin at 7am following lengthy surveillance operations on suspected drug pushers.

For the past two months, undercover officers have been deployed in areas where there is evidence of heroin dealing and have been monitoring the activities of a number of suspects.

The operation was first launched in 1997 and in the past five years has resulted in some 600 people being brought before the courts.

Those arrested today are also due before the courts to face charges.
