Priests' conference to start today

The country’s Catholic priests are to discuss the scandal of sexual abuse of children by clergy at their annual conference, which gets underway today.

The abuse of children will top the agenda for the conference, which is taking place in Maynooth.

The annual conference is one where priests take stock of their role in the church and examine the relationships between bishops and priests.

The event will last for three days.
