Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble was due to discuss the security situation in Belfast with police chiefs today as pressure mounted within his party to end power sharing with Sinn Fein.

It emerged that the Stormont First Minister was planning talks this afternoon with the Acting Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland Colin Cramphorn to discuss a summer of street violence in north and east Belfast.
