Minister predicts growth in forestry industry

Junior Minister John Browne has predicted that, within four years, more landowners will be involved in forestry than in either dairy farming, sheep or tillage.

Speaking in Co Wicklow today, Mr Browne said 20,000 landowners will be engaged in forestry as a business by 2006 if current trends continue.
