A Sinn Fein activist has vowed to complain to the North’s Police Ombudsman after his hand was broken while he was filming police actions in east Belfast at the weekend.

25-year-old Paddy McDaid said an officer broke his hand with a baton as he filmed the police attacking nationalist residents in the Short Strand area.

He said he had videotaped officers assaulting a child and other residents when the police moved to confiscate his camera and attacked him, breaking his hand.
