Woman arrested at protest at Shannon

Peace activists at Shannon claimed a woman has been arrested after a peaceful demonstration this afternoon.

The woman was taken into custody by Gardai after she attempted to enter a hanger perimeter in the airport.

Representatives from the Green Party and the Peace and Neutrality Alliance staged a protest today with 150 people over the use of Shannon airport by US military planes.

Peace activists now say that they will be setting up a monitoring camp at the airport as they maintain that the planes are carrying weapons and ammunition and are threatening Ireland's neutrality.
