600 jobs to go nationwide in health boards
Up to 600 jobs are set to go in health boards across the country. The news comes in the wake of today’s confirmation by the Western Health Board, that 200 positions are to go in their area.
Other health boards are now looking for ways to reduce their own costs through shedding staff.
The Midlands Health Board are to reduce staff by 40 people, while the Northeastern health board says 60 are to go through the non-filling of posts.
In the Eastern Regional health authority almost 320 jobs are to go, but the situation in the Southeast is being examined to see how many posts they can avoid filling.
The Southern Health board says 100 jobs are to go, but they are refusing to clarify what the nature of the cuts will be.
