Coastal communities urged to support Nice Treaty

Marine Minister Dermot Ahern has called on coastal communities to vote ‘yes’ in the upcoming referendum on Treaty of Nice.

54% of the Irish electorate rejected the treaty in a referendum in June 2001, but the Government is planning to re-run it in October in an effort to overturn the vote.
