Two arrested after Belfast hijack

Two men have been arrested after hijacking a bus in north Belfast this morning.

The men, armed with a handgun, got on a bus close to Holy Cross church on the Crumlin Road shortly before 7.30am.

They forced the driver from the vehicle and drove it towards the Upper Crumlin Road.

A police patrol responding to the incident observed the bus close to the junction of the Crumlin Road and Hesketh Road.

Before the two men were arrested by police, one of the hijackers held the gun against a police officer's head.

Both the police officer and the bus driver are thought to be suffering from shock.
