Gardai recover painting stolen by Martin Cahill

Gardai have recovered a Rubens painting which was stolen from Russborough House in Co Wicklow 16 years ago by notorious criminal Martin Cahill.

The painting was among 18 stolen during the 1986 raid and its discovery yesterday leaves just two of the art works unaccounted for.

Gardai said detectives acting on intelligence information discovered the Rubens head portrait in north Dublin yesterday.

Nobody was arrested in connection with the find.
