Abattoirs closed by the FSA

Two abattoirs in Co Monaghan and Co Cavan were closed last month on instructions from the Food Safety Authority.

Veterinary officers in both counties served closure orders on Liam Nicholl’s abattoir in Clones and Barney Connolly’s abattoir in Stradone.

These orders are served when the FSA feels there is an immediate or grave danger to public health.

In a statement today, the Food Safety Authority said the number of closures is down on July last year, when nine were issued.
