Monitor of ceasefire to be rigorous: Blair

Northern Ireland Secretary John Reid and British Prime Minister Tony Blair will today spell out how ‘‘more rigorous standards’’ should apply in deciding whether the ceasefires of paramilitary groups are intact, Downing Street said today.

Mr Reid will make a statement to MPs in the Commons this afternoon and Mr Blair is expected to address the issue at Prime Minister’s Question Time.
