Woman held as man killed in hammer attack

Gardai are questioning a woman in her 40’s after a father-of-two was found dead in his Dublin apartment.

Officers sealed off the flat in Knocklyon after the 46-year-old man died from head injuries.

A hammer and a knife were understood to have been recovered from the scene.

His body was discovered in an upstairs bedroom in the flat at Coolamber Park just after 2am.

Gardai later arrested a woman, thought to be the man’s partner, in Co Wicklow and took her to Rathfarnham garda station for questioning.

The man’s children were staying with relatives.

The woman is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice act and can be held for up to 12 hours without charge.
