Man pleads guilty to raping daughter

A man has pleaded guitly at the Central Criminal Court to raping and sexually asaulting his daughter between 1996 and 1999 at their home in Fermoy.

Robert Cohen (47), of St Joseph's Square, Fermoy, orginially from England, pleaded guilty to one count of rape, one of oral rape and four counts of sexual assault on his daughter between September 1996 and January 1999.

The rape occurred on January 11, 1999 and the oral rape on December 18, 1998. The sexual assaults began when she was 14-years-old.

The now 19-year-old girl's counsel, Mr Denis Vaughna Buckely SC, told the court she wanted her father's name published.

Mr Justice Paul Carney remanded Cohen in custody for sentence on October 25 next and ordered a preparation of a victim impact report for the sentence hearing.
