Greens call for tax on junk food
The Green party are calling on the Government to put a tax on junk food.
Party leader Trevor Sargent maintains that the money taken from the new tax could be used to give schoolchildren free fruit and vegetables.
Mr Sargent insists that something must be done to make and help Irish people be more aware of their health.
Deputy Sargent is joining the Irish Heart Foundation in demanding that the Government bring in the new tax.
The Green Party say that revenue from the sales of healthy foods would also help boost the businesses of Irish growers.
