More job losses in Limerick
More jobs are to go in the high tech sector.
The announcement comes after the parent of the Sumicem Opto electronics group has decided to disband its subsidiary in Limerick.
32 people are being laid off at the national technology plant in Plassy. The plant has been in Limerick since 1998.
Manufacturing is now expected to stop towards the end of next week.
In addition, it is expected that the plant will be completely closed by the end of October.
The jobs blow is the second in the area. 200 jobs went at the Flextronics plant earlier this month.
