IGB workers to march to Tanaiste’s office
Former workers at the Irish Glass Bottle plant in Dublin are due to march from Liberty Hall to the Tanaiste’s office today to protest at the attitude of management at the factory.
The IGB staff are angry that their employers have reneged on a redundancy deal recommended by the Labour Court following the closure of the plant.
SIPTU’s Gerry Lynch said:
"Our members are not looking for anything untoward; they’re looking for a reasonable redundancy settlement that has been afforded to workers in similar circumstances by foreign multinationals.
"Here we have an Irish multinational who believe that they are above the law, that they’re above the rules that we all play by and we will not accept that."
