Magennis and Kitt eliminated from Seanad election

Fianna Fail duo Marian Magennis and Michael Kitt have both been eliminated from the election for seats on the Seanad’s public administration panel.

Fianna Fail is expected to secure four seats on the panel for Camillus Glynn, Timmy Dooley, Tony Kett and Diarmad Wilson, with Fine Gael’s Joe McHugh and Fintan Coogan, the former Mayor of Galway, also expected to secure election.

The final seat is expected to be taken by the Labour Party’s Joanna Tuffy.

The public administration panel is the final panel to be filled from this year’s Seanad votes.

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is expected to name his nominees next week.
