Man remanded on murder charge

A 22-year-old man appeared in court today charged with the murder of a middle-aged woman whose body was discovered in her flat in Cork.

Brian Walsh, of no fixed address, was arrested in the Mayfield area of Cork yesterday following the discovery of Nora Kiely’s body at her home on Leitrim St.

Single, unemployed Walsh made no reply to gardai when he was charged at Cork District Court.

He was remanded in custody to appear again before the court on July 26.

The body of unemployed Ms Kiely, 45, who was originally from Mallow, was discovered in her Leitrim St flat on July 15.
