Girlfriend of murdered man to be sentenced today
The girlfriend of a Romanian man, whose body was found in a suitcase in Dublin’s Royal Canal, will be sentenced this morning for offences connected with his death.
Marina Sourovtzeva, a Russian National, was the victim of countless beatings at the hands of her 21-year-old boyfriend, Adrian Bestea.
She decided to hire three Russians to teach him a lesson.
The men beat him with a wheel brace for four and a half hours, and one blow to the head proved fatal.
The next day the body was packed into a suitcase and carried on a bus and dumped into the Royal Canal.
Ten days later children playing in the area discovered the suitcase.
Ms Sourovtzeva was pleaded guilty to charges of false imprisonment and assault and today the Circuit Criminal Court is due to decide her fate.
