Cork man charged with murder of woman

A 23-year-old Cork man is due to appear in court this morning to be charged in connection with the murder of a woman in the city in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Nora Kiely, 45, from North Cork, was found strangled in her flat on Leitrim St.

A post mortem was carried out by Dr Marie Cassidy and a murder investigation was launched.

Almost 25 detectives have been involved in the case and their breakthrough came last night when they arrested their prime suspect in Bishopstown.

The man was taken to Mayfield Garda Station and questioned.

He has already been charged with Ms Kiely’s murder and is expected to appear in court later this morning.
