Cost of private health insurance to rise

The cost of private health insurance is going up. The Minister for Health Micheal Martin is granting an 18% increase in premiums to the Voluntary Health Insurance group from September 1.

The average cost of a group B plan will now cost €430. It amounts to the full rise the VHI had applied for, and follows two previous increases last year totalling 15%.
