First five seats filled in Seanad

The first five seats have been filled in the new Seanad.

After almost 8 hours of counting in Leinster House all five seats on the Cultural and Education panel have been filled.

Joining Pascal Mooney, Noel Coonan and Brian Hayes are two members of Fianna Fail, Labhras O’Murchu and Ann Ormonde.

Among the fourteen losers is Madeline Taylor Quinn from Kilrush, Co Clare.

Meanwhile counting has begun for the eleven seats of the agricultural panel.
