Armed raiders abduct Dublin pub owner in robbery

The owner and staff of a landmark North Dublin pub are recovering from a terrifying ordeal overnight. The publican was abducted by armed raiders as he arrived home after closing time.

Three armed and masked raiders pounced on the owner of the Autobahn pub, as he arrived back at his home in Swords in the early hours of this morning. Gardai believe he was approached as he pulled up to his house at around 4am.

The men held him at gunpoint, bundled him back into his car and forced to go back to the pub, just off Collins Avenue. Inside, the Autobahn staff were also held at gunpoint and locked in a storeroom. €30,000 in cash was taken in the raid.

No shots were fired and no-one was injured, although the staff and owner are said to be very shaken. The scene and the man’s car have been preserved for a technical examination, and a man hunt is underway for the raiders.
